This stereoview depicts a baseball scene in 1867 Central Park Manhattan, New York where young fans pose for the camera. In the background, we see two professional teams playing a game of baseball. One team is very likely, although not confirmed, the New York Knickerbockers. Henry T. Anthony, the photographer, was a founding member and player of the Knickerbocker baseball club in the 1850s. He was also a sponsor of the club after his photography business flourished and a lifelong fan of the sport.
